Long Island native, Stephanie Calinoff, has been creating one-of-a-kind hand-crafted glass jewelry since the late 90’s. Her work has been featured at area museums and debuted commercially at Macy’s New York. Her pieces can be found at upscale boutiques, specialty shops, craft shows, house parties, and was featured at Super Saturday in East Hampton, where all of the proceeds were donated to Ovarian Cancer.
Stephanie recently selected the Tender Loving Care Foundation as the recipient of a custom designed set of four pendants made from a single piece of dichroic glass, called “Kindred Connection”. All of the proceeds from the sale of this collection will go directly to the support the Tender Loving Care Foundation.
According to Calinoff, “Glass is an amazing medium with limitless possibilities. Many processes and tools are used in the creation of my pieces which may be fired up to 4 times to achieve the desired end. The glass is fired (melted) in a kiln, much like pottery, to fuse little bits of glass together.”
Stephanie uses several types of glass in her work, but possibly the most beautiful glass is called dichroic, which is glass that is coated with metallic oxides such as titanium, magnesium and silicon. Each pendant is signed by the artist. All the findings are Sterling Silver plated.
